2 Corinthians 2:14-15
Ministers of the New Covenant
14. But thank God! He has made us his captives and continues to lead us along in Christ’s triumphal procession. Now he uses us to spread the knowledge of Christ everywhere, like a sweet perfume.
15. Our lives are a Christ-like fragrance rising up to God. But this fragrance is perceived differently by those who are being saved and by those who are perishing.
16. To those who are perishing, we are a dreadful smell of death and doom. But to those who are being saved, we are a life-giving perfume. And who is adequate for such a task as this?
17. You see, we are not like the many hucksters who preach for personal profit. We preach the word of God with sincerity and with Christ’s authority, knowing that God is watching us.

Proverbs 30:1-9
1. The sayings of Agur son of Jakeh contain this message.
I am weary, O God;
I am weary and worn out, O God.
2. I am too stupid to be human,
and I lack common sense.
3. I have not mastered human wisdom,
nor do I know the Holy One.
4. Who but God goes up to heaven and comes back down?
Who holds the wind in his fists?
Who wraps up the oceans in his cloak?
Who has created the whole wide world?
What is his name—and his son’s name?
Tell me if you know!
5. Every word of God proves true.
He is a shield to all who come to him for protection.
6. Do not add to his words,
or he may rebuke you and expose you as a liar.
7. O God, I beg two favors from you;
let me have them before I die.
8. First, help me never to tell a lie.
Second, give me neither poverty nor riches!
Give me just enough to satisfy my needs.
9. For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say, “Who is the Lord?”
And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God’s holy name.

Psalms 146
1. Praise the Lord!
Let all that I am praise the Lord.
2. I will praise the Lord as long as I live.
I will sing praises to my God with my dying breath.
3. Don’t put your confidence in powerful people;
there is no help for you there.
4. When they breathe their last, they return to the earth,
and all their plans die with them.
5. But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper,
whose hope is in the Lord their God.
6. He made heaven and earth,
the sea, and everything in them.
He keeps every promise forever.
7. He gives justice to the oppressed
and food to the hungry.
The Lord frees the prisoners.
8. The Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord lifts up those who are weighed down.
The Lord loves the godly.
9. The Lord protects the foreigners among us.
He cares for the orphans and widows,
but he frustrates the plans of the wicked.
10. The Lord will reign forever.
He will be your God, O Jerusalem, throughout the generations.

2 Corinthians 3:4-9
4. We are confident of all this because of our great trust in God through Christ.
5. It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualification comes from God.
6. He has enabled us to be ministers of his new covenant. This is a covenant not of written laws, but of the Spirit. The old written covenant ends in death; but under the new covenant, the Spirit gives life.
The Glory of the New Covenant
7. The old way, with laws etched in stone, led to death, though it began with such glory that the people of Israel could not bear to look at Moses’ face. For his face shone with the glory of God, even though the brightness was already fading away.
8. Shouldn’t we expect far greater glory under the new way, now that the Holy Spirit is giving life?
9. If the old way, which brings condemnation, was glorious, how much more glorious is the new way, which makes us right with God!

1. Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world.
2. This is how we know if they have the Spirit of God: If a person claiming to be a prophet acknowledges that Jesus Christ came in a real body, that person has the Spirit of God.
3. But if someone claims to be a prophet and does not acknowledge the truth about Jesus, that person is not from God. Such a person has the spirit of the Antichrist, which you heard is coming into the world and indeed is already here.
4. But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.
5. Those people belong to this world, so they speak from the world’s viewpoint, and the world listens to them.
6. But we belong to God, and those who know God listen to us. If they do not belong to God, they do not listen to us. That is how we know if someone has the Spirit of truth or the spirit of deception.
